LAUREN IS 5’8”. heels put me at almost 6 ft. which is why i don’t wear them…. j/k I just hate foot pain :P
Word. I’m like, just shy of being 5’11”, so when I put on heels I’m like a lost Winchester sister or something.
5’9”. I rarely wear heels - mostly because immense foot pain oh god but partly because sometimes I have embarrassing issues with dressing femme in public - but when I do, I actually really enjoy towering over everyone else in the room. I have broad shoulders, a long torso, wide hips, big thighs, etc; it’s only fair that I get to be super tall to complete the “intimidating gigantor woman” image!
King: Approx. 6’1”. But I’ve always felt weird when anyone tells me I’m tall (or, for that matter, thin) because both my brothers (younger and older, i was the middle) were taller and skinnier than I am.
I am almost at a magic number of followers on Tumblr. To celebrate I am having another contest. If I reach the magic number by midnight tomorrow one of my followers will win a copy of Birds of Prey autographed by the inker Doug Hazelwood. But I need to reach the number so spread the word so and…
I think Lois is amazing and it comes down to portrayal. She’s the woman that Superman falls in love with- think about who that woman has to be. It’s not the most beautiful person in the world, but that’s somebody who can so shake his view and once again - I have to quote Waid - and ‘surprise’…
Okay, yes. Any time I read Ruin Revealed, I always fly through the parts about Clark and his stuff because, great as they are, I want to read about Lois. She is one of the fiercest, most dangerous women in the DCU, perhaps even right there with Diana and Barda. Rucka understood that, he wrote it, and he sent her into the heart of Checkmate to get her answers.
As a for instance, I am very touchy when it comes to people knowing Oracle’s identity, especially finding out without her telling them. But Lois finding out? I could see it. She’ll find anything out if she has to. Everyone knows she only let Clark think she didn’t know he was Superman.
And when it comes to investigative journalism? My buddy Vic has nothing on our Lois. Lois is simply the best.
As for Rucka being away from DC, I have mixed feelings now that I see he’s solicited to write a story with Steve Rogers in October. Nothing will be able to keep my grubby hands off I Am An Avenger #2 now.
So, A while back, maybe as long as a year ago, dcwomenkickingass asked me about this scene from 52 week 33. (the art for this issue is credited to Joe Prado and Tom Derenick, and these pages don’t look as Prado as the ones before them, so i’m going to assume they’re Derenick, inks by Rodney Ramos)
From the commentary in the TPB, Rucka said of this scene
Almost every word Charlie speaks during this week is a line from Denny O’Neil’s run. The lines about Jackie were mine; the rest were his.
I’ve spent the last week reading through every comic Denny wrote with Vic in it, from Question v1 and its annuals to Question Quarterly, the story in Showcase ‘95 #3, Azrael Plus and his brief appearance in Azrael #10. I’ve done this to try and source these lines.
I was gonna make a collage. Unfortunately, I’ve come up a little short, only found two.
"Mommy told me" comes from Q? #35, art by Denys Cowan and Malcom Jones III. Myra and Richard find a beaten and broken Vic hiding in the nativity scene at a church. He’d crashed his car, had his clothes and mask stolen, and was currently hallucinating from exhaustion. This is what he tells Myra when they dig him out.
Parts of the lines from the second page are from Q? Annual #2, art by Shea Anton Pensa. Tot and Vic are recalling the investigation that got Vic to put on the mask for the first time, netting us a flashback to Tot visiting his one-time student at the TV station, where he tells Vic about pseudoderm and how his colleague had been abusing it.
The other lines recall certain scenes, like “play in the snow” brings to mind Vic’s first meeting with Jackie in Q? #3, and “what’s your name” makes me think of the nameless KBEL production assistant who Vic crushed on from time to time, but the lines aren’t used in those scenes. And I’m drawing a total blank on the Antigonish quote. So, if anyone has any ideas, let me know!
also worth noting is the following week of 52, #34, referenced Vic’s singing “Danny Boy” to Hatch in Q? #2, but you prolly knew that already
